I don't have any new pix of the house, but I should this weekend. I do, however, have some news! Our contact with our builder has said that we should be closing on the house in a month. Yes, ONE month. The completion date projection is for the 26th of May, then we would close 10 days after that. That is a full month ahead of our expected close date! YIPPEE!!! I drove by today and saw that they poured the driveway and have painted the exterior! We haven't been without our hiccups though. I think problems are a requirement with new construction. Anyway, they laid the wrong tile in the foyer and kitchen. That should be easy enough to fix.
BTW, killed yet ANOTHER cockroach last night (at 2 a.m.), and saw one in our eating utensil tray! HOW GROSS is that! Now the pest control guy said to me, "Honey, I can't keep 'em from comin' in, but they gonna die within 8 days of gettin' in." Well "honey" that JUST WON'T DO! I can't wait to get out of here. You can't tell me that every home in Florida has a cockroach problem. There IS a way to keep them out, he just hasn't done it yet!!! (Wow, what a rant and rave!)

Well Emily, just so you don't feel all alone in your buggy home. I was in a similar situation the other day. Going to the bathroom, reached for the tp and a big black spider fell to the floor. I jumped, went oooooo and smashed it. I instantly thought of you!! I'm just glad it wasn't a cockroach. Can't wait to see you guys. We miss you.
Ick, ick, ick!
Cracking up at the 'honey' comment! I'm glad you guys will be in your new house sooner than you expected!
UGH cockroaches just gross me out... We had some kind of cockroaches in our 1st house in B-town. We were SO mortified. We lived down wind from an apt complex so that is the only thing we could think of. Apparently the kind we had were not from being dirty but some other kind? I am sorry I am not up on my kind of cockroaches!!! I did not care I was revolted but once the pest guy started taking care it they were gone for the most part.
My sister lived in an apt. in Long Beach and I remember visiting her when I was like 13. We found a cockroach in the silverware drawer as well and we cleaned everything b/c UGH. She told she would put out those little "roach motel" things and the roaches were SO big there they would try to get in and end up pushing it across the floor! GAH!
I think it is part of living in a tropical climate unfortunately but I am guessing you will see none or less at the new house then you are in an apt. You just never know how clean or dirty your neighbors are you know?!
that is awesome. I remember when Nicki and I built on Bushmill. we would visit everyday to see what they had completed.
try diotamacious earth. Not sure of the spelling but if you go to a hardware store and ask for it they will know what you mean. it is the only thing that i have seen work on roaches. it also works on ants and spiders. it's harmless to humans ( so babies are safe) but not too good for those little creatures. it is basically the exo-skeletons from sea life crushed into a powder. the bugs crawl through it and eat it and breathe it and the sharp edges from the exo- skeletons cut them up from the inside and they die. The nice thing about it is they carry it back to where they nest and kill their buddies too.
good luck.
